An Ancient Prophecy

- The 8th Day -

compiled by Rachel Cory-Kuehl 2010

Last edited December 2016

Scripture is from New King James Version unless otherwise noted

THE PLAN WAS REVEALED

To Israel belong “the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the service of God, and the promises . . .”(Rom. 9:4). Yes! The LORD chose Israel to be His messengers. He entered into covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and then with Jacob - whose name was changed to Israel. Much later, the LORD entered into a covenant with the “Children of Israel.” But why? They were no more worthy or special than any other people.

They were simply a people chosen for a purpose - a wonderful purpose. The LORD had a prophecy to reveal - an acted prophecy. He would reveal His plan for the redemption of mankind - all acted out in the ceremonies and the appointed times of the Tabernacle. He clearly stated the terms of His covenant - His law. In return He would richly bless Israel for the role they would play in preserving this prophecy for mankind, but only if they remained faithful to that covenant.

The ancient Tabernacle of the LORD, its services and ceremonies - all revealed the LORD’s plan for the rescue of those who would enter into covenant with Him. The lamb sacrificed for sin, foreshadowed the Lamb of God. The grain offering, the wine poured out, the anointing oil - all revealed Messiah to come. The high priest acting his part in the earthly Temple, portrayed the role of Christ our High Priest in Heaven above (the Book of Hebrews). Day after day, year after year - priests and citizens acted out the prophecy.

In the cycle of appointed feast days, Sabbaths, planting years and Jubilees - the plan was foretold. At the end of this study is a list of resources for those who wish to study more deeply into the ancient Tabernacle of Israel, the ceremonies and the feast days, but just now I want to focus on one aspect of that revelation - “the 8th day.”

PRESENTED TO THE LORD

Exodus 22:30 Firstborn males were presented to the LORD on the 8th day - a reminder of the Israel’s deliverance when the firstborn of Egypt perished.

The firstborn of clean domestic animals were to remain with their mothers for 7 days. On the 8th day, they became acceptable for sacrifice. Human infant males were to be redeemed with money (Exo.13:13,15). The word “redeem” means to buy back. Our redeemer paid “the redemption price” to buy us back from certain death.

What does this symbolism tell us about our future, as God’s firstborn?

Exodus 4:22 Israel is my son, my firstborn.”

Every faithful believer is an Israelite. We are collectively Israel - the firstborn (Heb. 12:23). (Please see they study “Who are Israel?” here on prophecyviewpoint.com.) Yeshua will present us to God his Father - as a perfect offering - restored, cleansed and healed.

Question: When will Christ present us to His Father - a perfect offering?

Answer: On the 8th day.

1 Corinthians 15:24 “Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.”

    THIS IS THE PRESENTATION!!

We are His flock. We are Israel. We are the firstborn (Eph. 2, Rom. 11).

Question: When will we become acceptable - for presentation to God?

Answer: On the 8th Day.

Leviticus 22:27 A newborn animal [firstborn or not] was to remain with its mother for 7 days. On the 8th day, the animal would be acceptable to present to the LORD (Exo. 22:30).

Question: When is the 8th day?

Answer: The 8th day will be the 8th millennium.

“One day is with the Lord as a thousand years

and a thousand years as one day.” (2 Peter 3:8)

CIRCUMCISION

Question: When will we - newborn Israelites - be perfectly circumcised?

Answer: On the 8th day (Leviticus 12:3, Acts 7:8, Genesis 17:12).

Romans 2:29 “. . . circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.”

We understand that physical circumcision was required of Abraham as “the sign of the covenant” (Gen.17:13-14). That “sign” continued for three thousand years, until Christ replaced this blood sacrifice with circumcision “of the heart.” Paul certainly taught that physical circumcision was no longer required for inclusion in the Israel of the redeemed (Gal. 5:1-6). The physical was a TYPE - a prophetic symbol of what was to come. And the timing, on the 8th day from birth (Lev. 12:3), was also a prophecy of what was to come - for us.

From the hearts of those perfectly “circumcised” by Christ, every trace of selfish or defensive thinking will have been removed. I readily admit - along with every other sincere believer, that I am not yet perfectly “circumcised” in heart. The New Covenant promises the final and complete transformation of the heart. This will not be fully accomplished at the 8th day, - the 8th millennium.

Every person who comes to God through Christ IS an Israelite. If you cannot fully embrace this concept, please do read through the study titled “Who are Israel?” here on Prophecy Viewpoint.

Ezekiel 36:24-27 “For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land. Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you shall be clean. . . I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.”

THIS IS THE PROMISED CIRCUMCISION OF THE HEART!

THIS IS THE NEW COVENANT!

Please read the verse again, and notice WHEN the New Covenant will be fully realized. The New Covenant is fully realized only WHEN Israel is returned to the land. Which means we are not returned to “the land” until the 8th day. That is WHEN we will be fully circumcised in heart. The ancient command to circumcise on the 8th day, was a prophecy of this future event.

HEALING

Question: When will we be fully clean?

    Answer: On the 8th day.

Leviticus Chapter 13: In the ancient Law of Israel, a seven day quarantine was required for infectious diseases, issues, and skin lesions. If the infection no longer remained after the 7 days of quarantine, sacrifices could then be offered on the 8th day. The Israelite could then be considered “clean.”

Leviticus 15:13-14 Any person with an abnormal discharge was separated from the camp. If the discharge ceased, the person was to remain separated for another 7 days (7 days post healing). On the 8th day the healed person could present a sin offering and a burnt offering and then could rejoin the camp.

Sin is a disease. We are currently in quarantine. When, according to the prophecy, will we be healed? And we have only to ask in faith. The question for us, concerns whether we want to be healed.

LEPROSY - A SYMBOL OF SIN

Question: When will we lepers be declared fully clean?

Answer: On the 8th Day.

Leviticus 14:10-32 The leper who was “healed of his leprosy” must present himself to the priest. The priest must go outside of the camp to see the leper (just as Christ left heaven for us). If the leprosy was no longer visibly present, then the leper must be ceremonially cleansed. The cleansing would take seven days.

    On the first day:

         Cleansing procedure:

Take two living clean birds, cedar wood, scarlet, and hyssop.

Kill one bird (Christ) in an earthen vessel (human body),

              over running water (the Spirit).

Dip the living bird (Christ risen), the cedar, the scarlet, and the hyssop

              into the bloody water.

Sprinkle the healed leper 7 times, and pronounce him clean.

Release the live (blood dipped) bird (Christ risen).

The - now clean - person shall wash his clothes, shave off the hair from his body,

and wash himself in water (baptism).

Then he may come into the congregation,

but he must remain outside his tent (Temple) seven days.

On the seventh day of cleansing for the leper:

The - now “clean” - person was to shave again, all the hair from his head.

(Our bodies will be“changed in a moment.”)

He was to wash his clothes and wash his body in water (the Spirit)

and he shall be clean(cleaner).

(This is a process - we get cleaner and cleaner.)

On the eighth DAY of cleansing for the leper:

The now “clean” person was to present himself

at the door of the tabernacle, “before the LORD.”

He must bring two male lambs, and one ewe lamb of first year,

with flour, and oil.

The priest offers the sacrifices.

The priest then anoints the right ear, right thumb,

and right big toe of cleansed leper,

with blood from the sacrifices (blood of Christ),

and with the oil (Holy Spirit).

The remainder of the oil is poured upon the head of the healed leper.

NOW - the healed leper may “enter his tent (Tabernacle).

PLEASE NOTE: Those to be consecrated as priests, were anointed in the same way!

                  (Exo. 29:20, Lev 8:23).

SYMBOLISM: We were lepers, but become priests on the 8th day!

Only priests entered “his tent.”

CONSECRATED AS PRIESTS

Exodus 19:5-6 “If you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then

. . . you shall be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.

This promise is repeated to New Testament believers (1 Pet. 2:5, 9; Rev. 20:6).

Question: When will we begin to minister as priests of the LORD ?

Answer: On the 8th day.

The LORD’s desire was that the men of every tribe would become priests, but 11 of the tribes immediately forsook the covenant and worshiped the golden calf idol. Only the tribe of Levi, stood with Moses against the idol worshipers This tribe was then appointed to the priesthood. The Levite/Aaronic priest was the TYPE (the symbolic prophecy) of the coming Melchizedek priesthood of Christ and his redeemed.

CONSECRATION FOR THE PRIESTHOOD

Exodus Chapter 29:7-35 & Leviticus Chapter 8:

Aaron and his sons and all future priests:

Seven days you shall consecrate them.”

Wash them with water, (baptism of the Holy Spirit)

then dress them in the white “priestly garments.”

Anoint the head of Aaron with oil.

Kill the sin offering, the whole burnt offering, and the ram of consecration.

Anoint the tip of the right ear, right thumb, and right big toe of each man.

Sprinkle some of the blood from the sacrifices (blood of Christ)

mixed with the oil (Holy Spirit), on Aaron, on his sons, and on their garments.

Remain at the door of the tent (Tabernacle) until the 8th Day.

Leviticus 8:33-36 “And you shall not go outside the door of the Tabernacle of meeting for seven days, until the days of your consecration are ended. For seven days he (Moses - a TYPE of Christ) shall consecrate you.”

When the days of our consecration are ended, we (Israel redeemed) will begin our ministry of “priests of God and of Christ”. We will minister as priests, to teach and govern those who are resurrected at “the 8th day” (the 8th millennium).

NOTE: I believe Aaron and his two older sons, remained inside the courtyard, not inside the first apartment of the covered tent. To remain inside the first apartment of the Tabernacle would have been logistically very difficult with normal bodily functions (See Lev. 12:4-6).

The priestly ministry began on the 8th day.

Leviticus 9:1-7 “It came to pass on the 8th day, that Moses called Aaron and his sons . . .” “Go to the altar, offer your sin offering and your burnt offering, and make atonement for yourself and for the people.”

After the sacrifices and the Aaronic blessing:

“Then the glory of the LORD appeared to all the people, and fire came out from before the LORD, and consumed the burnt offering” (Lev. 9:23-24).

FULFILLMENT OF THIS ACTED PROPHECY

Aaron and his sons were individuals, consecrated for seven literal days. No human being has lived for 7000 years. For the fulfillment we must view all of those to be consecrated as one priesthood - one collective group or unit - Israel. The consecration of this priesthood began with Adam, nearly 6000 years ago. It will continue through the 7th millennium, until the 8th millennium, when we (redeemed Israel) will begin to serve as priests - under Christ our High Priest. We will serve as priests to govern and teach those who are resurrected at The 8th Day.

STRANGE FIRE - ON THE 8TH DAY

This note is for you serious students of Scripture. On the very same day that Aaron and his sons began their ministry as priests, Nadab and Abihu (the two older sons of Aaron) offered “strange fire” (not from the altar of burnt offering as commanded by the LORD). “Fire went out from the LORD and devoured them and they died.” Their brethren carried the bodies (by their tunics) “from before the sanctuary,” out of the camp (Lev. 10:1-5, 16-19).

Israel redeemed will serve as “priests of God and of Christ” (Rev. 20:6). We will begin this ministry on “the 8th day” (at the 8th millennium). This is the same time that Satan is loosed from the bottomless pit (Rev. 20:7). This is the same time that “the rest of the dead” are resurrected as nations in the four corners of the earth (Rev 20:5-8). Put the pieces together. The one who offered “strange fire” (Satan) will be consumed by the “fire of God” during the 8th millennium - at the Battle of Gog and Magog. It all fits!

The sons of Aaron offered “strange fire” - not the fire of God - meaning not from the fire which God had kindled on the bronze Alter. When a human being in a position of responsibility, changes (without divine authority) a symbol which God has given to represent Himself or His way - the LORD will severely punish that person. Moses was not allowed to enter the promised land, because he “struck the rock” in his anger, instead of speaking to the rock as instructed (Num. 20:8-12, Exo. 17:6). God wanted to say something about Himself. After “the rock” was smitten (Christ crucified) we have only to ask for the water (Spirit).

NOTE: THE ALTAR OF SACRIFICE was also to be sanctified for 7 days (Exo. 29:37). In the days of Hezekiah the consecration of The House also took seven days, following its desecration by idolatry (2 Chron. 29:17). And so - The Millennium Temple - Ezekiel’s Temple, will not be “cleansed” or ready - until The 8th Day (Ezekiel 43:27).

THE ASHES OF THE RED HEIFER

Question: When will we be cleansed from death?

Answer: On the 8th day.

Numbers 19:11-20 Anyone who had touched a dead body, or any part of a body, or bone of a human, was “unclean” in the site of the LORD. He must be sprinkled with the “water of purification” which contained the ashes of the red heifer. He must be sprinkled on the third day and on the seventh day, by a “clean man.” At sundown of the 7th day he would then “be clean.”

The 8th day begins at sundown of the 7th day.

SYMBOLISM: Yeshua (Jesus) IS the red heifer. His blood (the scarlet) is cleansing when applied by Yeshua himself (the “clean man”) using the water (Holy Spirit) and Hyssop (a symbol of cleansing).

During the 3rd millennium, from the first sin, the LORD made a promise covenant with with Abraham concerning his “seed”. All of the faithful ARE children of Abraham (Gal. 3:29).

It is interesting that the LORD commanded Abram to bring a heifer, as one of the animals to be sacrificed for the covenant ceremony (Gen. 15:9). The ashes of the red heifer, would one day be used for cleansing.

Four hundred thirty years later (to the day) the Children of Israel left Egypt, at midnight on the 15th of Nissan - after a meal of unleavened bread (Exo. 12:41). This means the LORD entered into covenant with Abraham on the night which would later see the Passover Meal - The Feast of Unleavened Bread.

During the 7th millennium, Yeshua will “sprinkle” us (cleanse us) while we spend a thousand years with Him. At the end of this 7th day - we (redeemed Israel) will be “clean” of the harmful effects of our life on this earth, where we have all “touched death.”

NOTE: Joseph of Arimathaea and Nicodemus were not able to keep the Passover after touching the body of Jesus. They would have kept the “Passover” 30 days later, as prescribed by the Law (Num. 9:10-12).

“With the LORD one day is as a thousand years,

and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8)

ANCIENT PROPHETIC CYCLES

THE WEEKLY CYCLE

Exodus 20:8-11 “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. In it you shall do no work: . . . For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”

Exodus 16:26 In the wilderness, no manna fell on the 7th day Sabbath.

SYMBOLISM: Christ was, and is THE manna from Heaven (John 6:31-33). There can be no presence of Christ on the earth during the Sabbath (7th) millennium, just as their was no manna in the camp of Israel, on the 7th day. The earth must rest - and DESOLATION IS REST (2 Chron. 36:21).

The desolation of earth during the 7th millennium, is covered in a separate study titled “Millennium.”

THE YEARLY CYCLE of FEAST DAYS: The plan was foretold!

At Rosh Hashana - The Feast of Trumpets, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Messiah) was born.

  In the Spring:

Passover - (Death of the Lamb) (Deliverance of Israel)

Feast of Unleavened Bread - (Yeshua, the Bread of Heaven was without sin.)

Firstfruits - (The Risen Christ was presented in Heaven before His Father.)

Pentecost - (The Spirit was poured out.

Christ began to write His Law on the hearts of Israel.)

     In the Fall:

Feast of Trumpets - (Warnings of Judgment Day approaching)

Day of Atonement - (Judgment Day)

Feast of Tabernacles - (We will tabernacle with Him.)

See Leviticus Chapter 23 & Numbers Chapter 24.

There are several very good books now available, which go into detail, explaining the prophetic feasts and their fulfillment. I have listed a few at the end of this study.

THE 8TH DAY - FOLLOWING THE FEAST OF TABERNACLES

In the 7th month, Israel was commanded to keep an ingathering feast - a celebration of the harvest. For 7 days they were to “dwell in booths(temporary shelters) to symbolize their wilderness wandering before entering the promised land.

Following the 7 day Feast of Tabernacles, they were to remain in Jerusalem for one more festival day - a “sabbath of rest” - The 8th Day. For this Feast of the Eighth Day, they were no longer required to “dwell in booths” (Leviticus 23:36, 39; Numbers 29:35; Nehemiah 8:18).

- They NO LONGER DWELT IN BOOTHS! -

FULFILLMENT: No longer will we live in temporary dwellings. No longer pilgrims or wanderers, we will “return to the land” - to our inheritance on the earth

at The 8th Day.

THE SEVEN YEAR PLANTING CYCLE

Leviticus 25:4 “But in the seventh year there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the LORD. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard.”

Israel was to sow the land for six years (Leviticus 25:2-7, 20-22).

The seventh year was to be a “rest for the land.”

They were to sow again, and gather in the harvest - in the eighth year (Leviticus 25:22).

Question: Will souls be won to the kingdom during the sabbath (7th) millennium?

Answer: No. The Gospel will not be “sown” and there will be no “harvest” of souls won, during the 7th - sabbath - millennium.

Question: When will there again be a harvest of souls for the kingdom?

Answer: During the 8th millennium.

THE JUBILEE - A SPECIAL YEAR (Leviticus 25:8-17)

The Jubilee shofar was to be sounded on Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement)

in the 7th month of the (sabbatical) 7th year - the 49th year (Lev. 25:9).

Paul believed that he would be raised from death “at the last trump” (1 Cor. 15:52). The 7th trumpet of Revelation (11:15-18) heralds the Second Coming, but we do not know if Paul was referring to a “trumpet”sounded by the 7th angel of Revelation, or to the sounding of a shofar (ram’s horn) - perhaps both.

If he was indeed referring to the last shofar blast of the ceremonial year - that blast would be sounded on Yom Kippur (at the moment when the high priest entered the Most Holy Place) to announce the Jubilee. Jubilee begins half way through the 49th year – but it is called “the fiftieth year.” The Jubilee was NOT the first year of another 7 year cycle. It was a special inserted year, between cycles of 49 years. Each 49 year cycle was cut short by 5 months and 20 days.

The fact that the seven-sevens was cut short is to me very significant! If the earth does “reel to and fro” (Isa. 24:18-20) and is “moved out of its place” (Isa. 24:19) then a tilt of 23.5 degrees would “cut short” the year, changing spring to fall, or vice versa. If the event occurred on Nissan 10 - it would move the calendar forward to Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) - Judgment Day. If it occurred on Yom Kippur, then it would move time forward to Nissan 10.

Joshua led Israel across the Jordan, into the promised land on the 10th day of Nissan (Joshua 4:19). I see a TYPE (a prophecy) of Yeshua (Jesus) leading His Israel across the sky, while the earth reels. Concerning the last terrible “time of trouble,” Jesus said, “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened(Matt. 24:22, Mark 13:20 NIV).

FULFILLMENT of THE JUBILEE

Exactly how the Jubilee will be fulfilled - we do not know. (There is no record that Israel ever kept a Jubilee.) It could be that the Jubilee will begin on the day that Jesus Christ returns in glory. The Israelite prisoners of death will be set free. On the other hand, the Jubilee may begin half way through the 7th (sabbath) millennium, when Israel will return to her “inheritance in the land” (Lev. 25:10). Christ our King will return to His inheritance. His loyal priests will build Ezekiel’s temple, and then begin to celebrate the Feasts of the LORD.

NOTE: The first feast celebrated by the captives returned to the land from captivity in Babylon, was Tabernacles (Ezra 3:4). Very interesting - a man named “Joshua” (Yeshua) led out in building the altar! This was a TYPE!

Hebrew (Israelite) servants were to be set free at the Jubilee, even if they had not yet served six years for their masters (Lev 25:40). Each Israelite was to return to his inheritance in the land and to his family (Lev. 25:10).

SERVANTS AND SLAVES

Deuteronomy 15:12-14 “If your brother, a Hebrew man, or a Hebrew woman, is sold to you and serves you six years, then in the seventh year you shall let him [or her] go free from you.”

A Hebrew debt “servant” to another Hebrew was to be free after 6 years of service (Exo. 21:2, Jer.34:14), OR at the Jubilee (Lev. 25:40) - whichever came first.

He was not to be sold to another as a slave.

SYMBOLISM: The redeemed of Israel will be “free” after 6000 years,

when Yeshua (Jesus) returns at the beginning of the 7th millennium.

A Hebrew debt slave to a non-Hebrew could be redeemed for money by a “near-kinsman.”

Price was determined by the time remaining to the Jubilee.

He or she was to be freed by the “new” (non-Hebrew) master, at the Jubilee (Lev. 25:54).

This says to me that Jesus glorious return, will mark the start of the Jubilee.

SYMBOLISM: Our “near-kinsman,” (Yeshua) has paid the redemption price for us.

Non-Hebrew slaves were NOT freed at the Jubilee.

They could be kept as property - as permanent slaves (Lev. 25:45-46).

SYMBOLISM: Non-Israelites are never free. They will die as slaves of Satan.

THE PROPHECY OF HOSEA 6:1-2

     “Come, and let us return to the LORD;

      For He has torn, but He will heal us;

He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

      After two days He will revive us;

On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.”

Two days from the first day IS THE THIRD DAY!

The resurrection of Yeshua did indeed “revive” His disciples.

But there is much more to this prophecy!!!

Two thousand years (2 days) from His death - He will revive us and raise us up!

     THIS IS THE RESURRECTION !!

     WE ARE ALMOST THERE !!

THE PROPHECY OF THE “FOUR DAYS”

Exodus 12:1-6 The Passover Lamb was “chosen” on the 10th day

    - and sacrificed 4 days later, on the 14th day of Nisan.

Yeshua was “chosen” 4000 years (4 days) before HIS death.

I believe that the sin of Adam took place on what would later be called Passover.

In the cool of the day - the LORD made coverings for them - from the skin of an animal.

The first blood was shed.

THE TIMING OF THE RESURRECTION

Leviticus 23:15 “You shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath(s), from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed.”

The Septuagint says “the next day of the Sabbaths” (plural).

(First Sabbath ) - The Feast of Unleavened Bread.

(Second Sabbath) - The 7th day.

NOTE: A “holy convocation” - a day upon which “no ordinary work” was to be done - was defined as “a sabbath” (meaning a rest). The 1st and 7th days of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, Pentecost, the Feast of Trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the 1st and the 8th day of the Feast of Tabernacles were commanded to be such special rest days. (See Leviticus Chapter 23.)

The day after the 7th day Sabbath was the 8th day - which was the 1st day of the next week -

            which was a Sunday.

So - The Feast of Firstfruits always fell on a Sunday (the 8th Day).

So - The resurrection of Christ took place on Sunday at dawn.

He WAS “the firstfruits” (I Cor. 15:23, I Cor. 15:20).

From The Feast of Firstfruits to Pentecost - count 50 days (The Omer).

7x7 = 49 + 1 = the 50th day - from the Firstfruits.

If you start with the “day after the Sabbaths” (a Sunday)

      - then Pentecost always falls on a Sunday (the 50th day).

So - I agree with the Sadducees on this one - that the Feast of Firstfruits

always fell on a Sunday - making it an 8th day.

In the beginning the LORD finished His work in 6 days and rested the 7th day.

Yeshua “finished” His work on the 6th day (Friday) - rested the 7th day (Sabbath)

      - and was raised the 8th day (Sunday).
