RECONCILED

 - At Last ! -

compiled by Rachel Cory-Kuehl 2002

 last edit: September 10, 2021

Scripture from the NKJV unless otherwise noted

Colossians 1:19-20 “For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself (2 Corinthians 5:18).

Because of rebellious sin, mankind was separated from the Father.

The Son of God became the mediator.

He would bring about a reconciliation.

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; And your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear.”

I Timothy 2:5 “There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”

To access a study of Christ as the mediator through the years of the Old Testament, please see our study: “The Mediator.”

THE NEW COVENANT

Jeremiah 31:33-34 “But this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the LORD: I will put My law in their minds, and write it on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.” (See also Hebrews 8:11-13.)

             Perfect reconciliation! They will all know Me.

CHRIST WILL PRESENT THE KINGDOM TO HIS FATHER

1 Corinthians 15:24-28

    “Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father,

when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power.

    For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet.

The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

For ‘He [the Father] has put all things under His [Christ’s] feet.’

But when He says ‘all things are put under Him,’

it is evident that He [the Father] who put all things under Him is excepted.

Now when all things are made subject to Him [the Son],

then the Son Himself will also be subject

             to Him [the Father] who put all things under Him,

that God may be all in all.”

            Compare the above passage with this next one.

Ephesians 1:20-23 “. . . which He [the Father] worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated Him at His right hand in the heavenly places, far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come. And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.”

Psalm 110:1 “The LORD said to my Lord,

     ‘Sit at My right hand, till I make your enemies Your footstool.’”

Christ now sits at the right hand of God His Father (Ephesians 1:20). He acts - under the direction and authority of His Father. The Father has made His Son “head of the church.” One day soon - the Court of Heaven will take the dominion of earth from Satan and give it to Christ - the Son of Man (Daniel 7:10-14). Satan’s domination will be finished.

One day soon, the Son of God will present the kingdom He has won, to His Father. Then the Son Himself will be subject to his Father, and God will be all in all.

Just as in the Sanctuary model, the plan foretold this presentation of “the firstborn.”

      It will take place at “the 8th day.

Psalm 8:4-6 “What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet.”

NOTE: The apostolic writers definitely understood Psalm 8, as a reference to the Son of God.

NEW HEAVENS AND A NEW EARTH

Revelation 21:1-7 “Now I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea. Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, ‘Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.’ Then He who sat on the throne said, ‘Behold, I make all things new.’ And He said to me, ‘Write, for these words are true and faithful.’ And He said to me, ‘It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.’”

Isaiah 66:22-23 “‘For as the new heavens and the new earth which I will make shall remain before Me,’ says the LORD, ‘So shall your descendants and your name remain. And it shall come to pass that from one New Moon to another, And from one Sabbath to another, All flesh shall come to worship before Me,’ says the LORD.”

THE HOLY CITY DESCENDS

Hebrews 11:16 “Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God,

    for He has prepared a city for them.”

Revelation 21:9-27

    21:9 “‘Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife.’”

21:10 “And he carried me away in the Spirit to a great and high mountain, and showed me the great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God.

Her light was like a most precious stone, like a jasper stone, clear as crystal. . . . The construction of its wall was of jasper; and the city was pure gold, like clear glass. The foundations of the wall of the city were adorned with all kinds of precious stones: . . .”

     21:21 “The twelve gates were twelve pearls:”

21:22-24 “But I saw no temple in it, for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light. And the nations of those who are saved shall walk in its light, and the kings of the earth bring their glory and honor into it.”

21:25-27 “Its gates shall not be shut at all by day (there shall be no night there). And they shall bring the glory and the honor of the nations into it. But there shall by no means, enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life.”

Revelation 22:1-5 “And he showed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads. There shall be no night there: They need no lamp nor light of the sun, for the Lord God gives them light. And they shall reign forever and ever.”

Revelation 5:13 “And every creature which is in heaven and on the earth and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, I heard saying:

    ‘Blessing and honor and glory and power be

        to Him who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb, forever and ever!’”

1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”

Psalm 37

 - A Psalm of King David -

“Don't be upset by evildoers or envious of those who do wrong,

for soon they will wither like grass and fade like the green in the fields.

Trust in ADONAI, and do good; settle in the land, and feed on faithfulness.

Then you will delight yourself in ADONAI, and he will give you your heart's desire.

Commit your way to ADONAI; trust in him, and he will act.

He will make your vindication shine forth like light,

the justice of your cause like the noonday sun.

Be still before ADONAI; wait patiently till he comes.

Don't be upset by those whose way succeeds because of their wicked plans.

Stop being angry, put aside rage, and don't be upset - it leads to evil.

For evildoers will be cut off, but those hoping in ADONAI will inherit the land.

Soon the wicked will be no more; you will look for his place, and he won't be there.

But the meek will inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace.

The wicked plots against the righteous and grinds his teeth at him;

but Adonai laughs at the wicked, knowing his day will come.

The wicked have unsheathed their swords,

they have strung their bows to bring down the poor and needy,

to slaughter those whose way is upright.

But their swords will pierce their own hearts, and their bows will be broken.

Better the little that the righteous has than the wealth of all the wicked.

For the arms of the wicked will be broken, but ADONAI upholds the righteous.

ADONAI knows what the wholehearted suffer, but their inheritance lasts forever.

hey will not be distressed when times are hard;

when famine comes, they will have plenty.

For the wicked will perish;

ADONAI's enemies will be like sheep fat, ending up as smoke, finished.

The wicked borrows and doesn't repay, but the righteous is generous and gives.

For those blessed by ADONAI will inherit the land,

but those cursed by him will be cut off.

ADONAI directs a person's steps, and he delights in his way.

He may stumble, but he won't fall headlong, for ADONAI holds him by the hand.

I have been young; now I am old;

yet not once have I seen the righteous abandoned or his descendants begging for bread.

All day long he is generous and lends, and his descendants are blessed.

If you turn from evil and do good, you will live safely forever.

For ADONAI loves justice and will not abandon his faithful; they are preserved forever.

But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.

The righteous will inherit the land and live in it forever.

The mouth of the righteous articulates wisdom, his tongue speaks justice.

The Torah of his God is in his heart; his footsteps do not falter.

The wicked keeps his eye on the righteous, seeking a chance to kill him.

But ADONAI will not leave him in his power or let him be condemned when judged.

Put your hope in ADONAI,

keep to his way, and he will raise you up to inherit the land.

When the wicked are cut off, you will see it.

I have seen a wicked man wielding great power, flourishing like a shade tree in its native soil.

But I passed by again, and he was no longer there;

I looked for him, but he could not be found.

Observe the pure person, consider the upright;

for the peaceful person will have posterity.

But transgressors will all be destroyed;

the posterity of the wicked will be cut off.

ADONAI is the one who saves the righteous; he is their stronghold in time of trouble.

ADONAI helps them and rescues them, rescues them from the wicked and saves them;

because they take refuge in him.CJB

Amen
