Eerdman's Handbook to the Bible

This international bestselling (over 1.75 million copies in print) full-color guide to the books of the Bible features numerous revisions of the text, illustrations, maps, and charts to provide greater clarity and visual appeal. Features include 437 pictures, 363 in full color; 68 maps showing important geographic locations; 28 charts providing historical background in visual form; and much more.
This volume is a fine resource for the reader who wishes to delve a bit deeper into Biblical study, but feels intimidated by the commentaries published specifically for use by pastors and theologians. It's an easy read--two words one seldom associates with a reference book--beautifully illustrated, with plenty of background information to give the biblically challenged a flavor for the times in which the Bible was written.
This is one of the most comprehensive study tools available. In the book many diagrams and photos of all sorts. I book to be the most helpful of all my study tools.

Charts of the New Testament

Charts of the New Testament - Chronological and Background

Students of the New Testament are confronted with a vast amount of information, both biblical and extrabiblical. Chronological and Background Charts of the New Testament helps the student organize and synthesize this material by providing a helpful visual overview of the data, chronology, historical background, and criticism of the New Testament. This format allows facts, relationships, parallels, and contrasts to be grasped quickly and easily. The 90 charts in this updated, expanded edition are divided into four broad categories: general material, backgrounds to the New Testament, the Gospels, and the apostolic age. They cover a wide range of topics, from basic matters such as a chronological list of the books of the New Testament to less familiar subjects such as “The Roman Military System,” “Rabbinic Writings,” and “The Five Gospels of the Jesus Seminar.” This volume is a useful tool for classroom use, for individual study, and as a handy reference.

Holman Book of Biblical Charts

Holman Book of Biblical Charts, Maps, and Reconstructions

As a teacher of the Word of God, I love using charts that help the visual student see what I am talking about. And in this chart book, which is completely done in color (visually very appealing), both the Old and New Testaments are covered, including maps and reconstructions of historically significant times and places. I am planning to lead a trip to the Holy Land this summer, and I'll probably have this book with me when we tour the places reconstructed here. The wire spine is appreciated because it makes it easier to turn the pages and lay the pages flat when making overheads. All in all this book is a "quality" production, and I can only say "well done!" .

A map of every town, city, country and empire discussed in the Bible. Each map or diagram is accompanied by several paragraphs of history and background. Where this atlas exceeded my expectations was in its detail.
